Kiva
Networking To Assume HoosierNet Service
—Agreement avoids Sept. 1 disconnection for HoosierNet’s 2,000
customers—
BLOOMINGTON, IN - In an effort to maintain continuity for a
major sector of the Bloomington community, Kiva Networking will
assume responsibility for all HoosierNet customers, effective
Friday, Sept. 1, the date HoosierNet initially slated to cease
operations. The announcement was made today by James Kinnett,
executive vice president and chief operating officer of
eGIX,
Inc., Kiva’s principle partner.
“Technology
must never become a ‘have’ vs. ‘have not’ commodity,”
said Kinnett. “It must augment education, local government,
culture and social networking as well as business and industry.
With that spirit in mind, we are proud to provide service to
HoosierNet customers under the Kiva umbrella. As this
relationship moves forward, those customers will also have
access to Kiva’s full line of products and services.”
In operation
since 1995, HoosierNet is a non-profit community networking and
Internet provider to businesses, other non-profits, government
agencies and individual customers in Bloomington and Monroe
County.
“It speaks
volumes about the quality of Bloomington business leaders when
one will step to the aid of another because it serves the
greater good,” said Maria Heslin, City of Bloomington
spokesperson. “HoosierNet has served a vital purpose in our
community and we’re very pleased the services it provided will
continue with Kiva’s assistance.”
Current
HoosierNet customers can expect no immediate changes in service,
support or billing, according to Kiva’s Director of Client
Services Kelli Hartman, who stressed the importance of bringing
together two strong, local brands.
“One of the
major benefits of this relationship to HoosierNet customers is
they now will have access to Kiva’s full suite of products,
services and support,” Hartman said. “We take pride in being a
business solutions company and are excited by the opportunity to
enhance service for those who serve our community.”
Kiva
Networking was founded in 1996 and has steadily grown to become
one of Indiana’s dominant technology and Internet partners. Kiva
Networking is a full-service technology provider of voice, data
and IT services to Bloomington area businesses as well as area
households. Kiva also provides Wireless, Fiber, High-Speed DSL
and other broadband solutions. In 2006, Kiva joined with Carmel,
Ind.-based eGIX, Inc. to form a strategic partnership to
mutually expand products and services for the two companies.
